Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, has called on residents to come together in unity and support Governor Monday Okpebholo’s development plans.

He said that real progress can only happen when both the government and the people work hand in hand.

Idahosa made this statement on Sunday through his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo. He spoke at a thanksgiving service for the late mother of Jerry Uwangue, the Edo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security.

The thanksgiving service saw many government officials, political leaders, religious leaders, family, friends, and well-wishers gather to honor the life of the deceased.

Idahosa emphasized that the people of Edo must continue to back the policies and programs of the Okpebholo administration. He noted that real development happens where there is trust, teamwork, and active participation from citizens.

He said, "Constructive engagement and collective responsibility, rather than unproductive criticism, are vital to achieving lasting progress. Every resident has a role to play in building a stronger and more prosperous Edo State.

"My appeal to residents of the state is that they should embrace unity, cooperation and shared responsibility in support of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s development agenda."

The deputy governor also reaffirmed the Okpebholo-led government’s commitment to implementing people-focused policies and impactful projects. These efforts aim to improve the welfare and living standards of residents across the state.

He encouraged citizens to stay committed to supporting government initiatives. He also prayed for continued peace, stability, and lasting development in Edo State.

Idahosa praised the Uwangue family for holding a thanksgiving service for their late mother. He called the event a fitting tribute to a woman whose life was filled with faith, sacrifice, and selfless service.

He pointed out that beyond mourning loved ones, such events allow people to reflect on important values like love, compassion, unity, and peaceful living.

During the service, special prayers were offered for the grieving family, the Edo State Government, and the people of the state. Clerics prayed for lasting peace, unity, and prosperity.
