Some supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) said they will vote for the party’s candidate to tackle insecurity.
The supporters spoke in separate interviews with PREMIUM TIMES on Thursday during the ADC final rally at their campaign office in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Dare Bejide of the ADC is one of the 14 candidates in the Ekiti gubernatorial election set for Saturday, June 20.
Olatunji Olawale called the campaign outing a sign of what is to come on Saturday.
“This will be the most successful election in this state. We campaign against vote buying,” he noted.
Mr Olawale believes that the governorship candidate will help reduce insecurity in Ekiti State.
He urged Mr Bejide, if he becomes governor, to lower the cost of university education.
Bosede Adewunmi, another ADC supporter at the campaign, said the candidate promised to ensure the safety of the people, especially against abduction and kidnapping.
Mrs Adewunmi mentioned that their candidate has the necessary experience.
“He is an employer of labour, and he promised us employment, security, no more abductions,” she said.
Olubunmi Salami, an entrepreneur from Ado-Ekiti, agreed with Mrs Adewunmi, saying kidnappings will stop if the ADC candidate wins.
Mr Salami described the final campaign as “fantastic and successful.”
Besides insecurity, Emmanuel Okonkwo, a trader, asked the candidate to empower the youth and cut down on taxes.
“Focus on security, the economy, education and youth empowerment,” Mr Okonkwo urged the candidate.
Oluwatoyin Ariyo also called on Mr Bejide to concentrate on road construction and security.
She encouraged Ekiti residents to come out and vote for the ADC candidate.
