The police in Gombe State have rescued an eight-year-old boy who was kidnapped in Akko Local Government Area. They also arrested four suspects linked to the crime.
DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the police spokesperson, shared this news in a statement on Thursday in Gombe.
The boy's father, Muhammadu Nabadara, reported the kidnapping to the Akko Divisional Police Headquarters on June 28. He said his son left home the day before around 6:30 a.m. and did not return.
Detectives wasted no time. They started investigating and worked hard to find the missing boy.
On June 29, the boy's family got a phone call claiming to know where he was. But after the police checked, they found out the information was false.
The police used intelligence operations and made a breakthrough on June 30. They arrested the first suspect, Abdullahi Mohammed, from Jauro Musa Quarters in Kumo, Akko LGA.
"During questioning, Abdullahi Mohammed admitted that he worked with Mohammed Magaji, 35; Sale Sale, 23; and Walida Ya’u, 18. They all live in Kagarawal Quarters, Gombe, and planned the abduction together," the statement said.
The police then arrested the other three suspects and found the kidnapped boy with them.
"The boy was rescued unharmed and has gone back to his family. The investigation is still going on, and the suspects will be taken to court once it is complete," the statement added.
The Commissioner of Police in Gombe State, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, praised the operatives for their successful rescue. He recognized their professionalism and quick action.
"The Commissioner of Police appreciates the professionalism, hard work, and fast response of the operatives in this rescue. He assures residents that the police are dedicated to protecting lives and property. He encourages the public to stay alert and keep providing useful information to the police," the statement concluded.
