The Nigerian police will charge Adeniyi Adeyemi on Tuesday. He is the controversial head of a non-existent agency called the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
The court hearing will be before Judge Mohammed Umar at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The police have charged Mr. Adeyemi and two others with eight counts. These include forgery and impersonation. The case is marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025.
This case was filed on 27 November 2025 by Wisdom Madaki, a police prosecutor. Court proceedings had been delayed on 16 June when Mr. Adeyemi did not show up. He claimed he was ill.
Court documents show the prosecution plans to call several witnesses against the defendants. This includes Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, and others like Paul Emmanuel, Jeremiah Imoukhede, and Ituah Sylvester.
There are also civil servants from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation. Akimbo Shola and Adamu Balongu, a deputy superintendent of police, are listed as witnesses. Other witnesses include Ojo Victor, Omeh Amarachukwu, and Wakili Saidu, who allegedly worked with Adeyemi.
Joy Ngwoke, who owns Kachi Hotel in Abuja, and Ven Okoriko, the pastor of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Maitama, are also witnesses.
The prosecution will present several documents to support their case. These include the police investigation report, a petition from Mr. Gbajabiamila dated 17 October 2025, and a fake presidential appointment letter from Mr. Adeyemi dated 8 March 2024.
Other documents include a request for a note verbale sent by Mr. Adeyemi to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The prosecution will also show approvals he received to open accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria and requests he made for self-accounting status from the Accountant-General’s office.
There are also requests for collaboration with the ministry regarding land acquisition and office setups across Nigeria. The prosecution has listed statements from all witnesses and defendants, along with pictures.
The police said, "the prosecution shall at the trial call any other related witness or witnesses to prove its case."
The prosecution claims Mr. Adeyemi ran the fake agency from the 2nd Floor of the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja, Phase III, before his arrest.
On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu asked the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the activities of the fake agency.
The president gave the ICPC 30 days to finish their investigation. It is still unclear how the ICPC's findings will affect the police case against Mr. Adeyemi.
