A 48-year-old carpenter, Tunji Aminu, is currently facing prosecution at the Magistrates’ Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, over allegations of fraudulently obtaining N120,000 from a client under false pretenses.

According to police prosecutor Adegesin Famuyiwa, the incident occurred on May 29, 2024, at No. 13 Popoola Street, Agric, Ikorodu. Aminu allegedly received the sum from his client, Adebayo Johnson, as payment to construct a set of chairs but failed to deliver on the agreement, instead converting the money for personal use.

The prosecution stated that Aminu is being charged with stealing by conversion and obtaining money under false pretenses, offenses that contravene Sections 314 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.


Aminu, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Following his plea, the court granted him bail set at N50,000, with two sureties required in like sum.

The case has been adjourned to May 24 for further proceedings.
