The Cross River State Government has endorsed Jacob Awade, aka Awaade of Lagos, in his ongoing attempt to set an official Guinness World Record for Theatre-thon individuals.

Awade is attempting a 120-hour Theatre-thon challenge to beat the initial record, with over 70 hours already achieved at the time of the visit.

Speaking on Monday at Romaan Lounge, the venue of the attempt, the Commissioner for Information, Dr Erasmus Ekpang, stated that Governor Bassey Otu, “is aware of the official attempt undertaken by the constituent,” with assurances of massive support.

He stated, “The government of Senator Bassey Otu will stop at nothing in promoting noble ideas that place Cross River State on the global map for good

Ekpang added that in pursuit of shaping the destinies of Cross Riverians through the current administration’s ‘People First’ mantra, the government would intentionally promote noble ideas that would put the state on the global map in all sectors.

Assuring Awade of periodic visits and material support for the project, the commissioner reaffirmed the administration’s dexterity in restoring human dignity.

“As the world continues to anticipate this historic feat from young and vibrant Cross Riverians, all hands are on deck for its manifestation,” he said.

Also, the Commissioner for Finance, Michael Odere, urged the marathoner to keep the flame burning, adding that the youth demographic was inspired by his audacity to set a new world record.
