Liverpool manager Arne Slot has suggested that his team’s 3-2 defeat to Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday was due to errors made in the first half.

According to Slot, Liverpool were not complacent against Fulham, but they “lacked time” during the encounter at Craven Cottage.

Liverpool had taken the lead through Alexis Mac Allister, but defensive mistakes allowed Fulham to score three goals in just 14 first-half minutes.


Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi, and Rodrigo Muniz all scored for Fulham following errors from Liverpool players in the opening period.

In the second half, Luis Diaz’s 72nd-minute strike gave the Premier League leaders hope, but they were unable to find an equaliser.

“It wasn’t 45 minutes of disaster, but the errors we made were something we’re not used to,” Slot told Sky Sports.

“There is no reason for us to be complacent. We are not number one at the moment because we win every match by three or four goals.

“Unfortunately, we lacked time in the end to score a third. People want to make stories, which is their job.

“Many teams find it difficult to play Fulham. The second-half performance was outstanding. We had chances, but in the end, we lacked time.”

The result leaves Liverpool 11 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal, with seven games remaining to conclude the season.
