Djibo, a town in northern Burkina Faso, came under attack this morning by jihadist forces, adding to the string of violent incidents that have destabilized the region.

Affiliated with the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM), the attackers targeted both military installations and civilian areas.

In a provocative move, the jihadists threatened to push further south, declaring their intent to reach Ouagadougou—the capital—and confront the current military rulers.


This escalation of threats has heightened tensions across the country, raising concerns about a broader, more coordinated offensive.

The situation in Djibo and nearby regions remains critical, with reports of numerous casualties from recent attacks. As the conflict deepens, the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate, leaving civilians increasingly vulnerable amidst the ongoing violence.
