Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday alleged that hundreds of Chinese nationals were fighting for Russia against Ukraine.

This comes after Zelensky recently accused Moscow of dragging Beijing into its invasion.

“As of now, we have information that at least several hundred Chinese nationals are fighting as part of Russia’s occupation forces,” Zelensky told a gathering of military chiefs from allied countries in Brussels.


“This means Russia is clearly trying to prolong the war – even by using Chinese lives,” he added.

Recall that Ukraine said earlier this week that its forces had captured two Chinese nationals in the eastern Donetsk region fighting for Russia.

Russia, however, denied the claim, while China warned parties to the conflict against making “irresponsible remarks”.

The war between Ukraine and Russia has lingered for over three years as of today.

Several casualties have been recorded on both sides as US President Donald Trump and other European countries are keen to restore peace between both Russia and Ukraine.
