In a statement issued by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, Warisenibo Joe Johnson, Fubara clarified that there was no judgment from the Supreme Court against him.

According to the governor, the decision to withdraw the appeal was a reasonable one, as the appeal no longer held practical value after the budget had been fully implemented.

“The only sensible course of action was to withdraw the appeal and have it dismissed.

It serves no real purpose now, and it would be unwise to burden the Supreme Court with academic appeals that offer no utility,” Fubara stated, emphasizing that the court had a significant workload and should not be clogged with irrelevant matters.

The statement further refuted claims that the Supreme Court ruling had any bearing on the governor, explaining that the court’s decision was simply related to his voluntary withdrawal of the appeal, a move made necessary by the completion of the budget cycle.

Fubara also dismissed what he described as “outdated political propaganda” by some opposition figures, who were reportedly celebrating the case.

He called for the public to disregard such claims, asserting that there had been no legal setback for him or his administration.

The matter remains serious, but sources within the camp of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, have declined to comment further on the issue at this time.
