The Nigeria Correctional Service has debunked reports claiming that a bomb exploded at the Borno State Maximum Security Custodial Centre late Sunday night.

Speaking with PUNCH Online on Monday, the spokesperson for the service in Borno State, Adamu Thliza, dismissed the reports as false and mischievous, insisting that no such incident occurred.

He said, “For goodness sake, how could this happen in a prison? It is a lie, I am telling you, there was nothing like a bomb blast in the prison.”

He confirmed that the prison environment is calm while calling on members of the public to avoid the reports which he described as “fake news”

This is coming hours after news circulated that there was a bomb explosion in the cell of Okah Charles who is serving a life sentence for masterminding the 2010 Independence Day bombing near Eagle Square in Abuja.
