Two arraigned in court over unlawful entry, damage to private property

Ekiti State police command have arraigned two persons, Sulaiman Jamiu, 30, and Oluwafemi Omotosho, 30, at the Chief Magistrate court in Ado-Ekiti over an alleged conspiracy to commit felony to wit, forceful entry and damage on a land property.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, said the defendants, and others at large on June 23 at about 09:00am in Oye-Ekiti within the Magistrate District, did forcefully enter the property of Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, located along FUOYE main campus road Oye-Ekiti.

Inspector Oriyomi, said the defendants and others at large did in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace, forcefully entered the landed property without lawful authority of Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina.


The prosecutor added that the defendants did willfully and unlawfully damage the gate key valued N20,000, property of Prof. Abayomi Fasina.

According to the prosecution, the offence committed is punishable under Section 421(1), 65, 3(4), 363 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021 and Ekiti State property protection (Anti-Land Grabbing) Law 2019.

Counsel to the defendants, E. O. Adedeji, urged the court to grand his clients bail, saying they will not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted them N25,000 bail with one surety each in like sum, adding that parties should keep the peace and adjourned the case till July 7 for hearing.
