US President, Donald Trump, has said he expects to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in person.

According to Trump, they are likely to meet first in Saudi Arabia.

“We ultimately expect to meet.

“In fact, we expect that he’ll come here, and I’ll go there, and we’re going to meet also, probably in Saudi Arabia.

“The first time we’ll meet in Saudi Arabia,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

Although the timing of the meeting was not confirmed, Trump claimed it would be “not in the too distant future.”

The US president’s comments came hours after “a lengthy phone call” with Putin.

Trump’s administration is pressing ahead with plans to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.

The president also implied that America will work with Russia on other issues, saying while ending the Ukraine-Russia war is a priority, “we each talked about the strengths of our respective Nations, and the great benefit that we will someday have in working together.”
