Chelsea midfielder, Andrey Santos has urged the Blues players to work hard against Fluminense defender Thiago Silva when both teams clash in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final tie on Tuesday.

According to Santos, Silva was so important to him, Chelsea and also to the fans during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Silva left Chelsea last summer to join Brazilian club Fluminense.

Speaking ahead of the encounter on Tuesday, Santos said (via Chelsea’s website): “Thiago Silva was so important for me during my first season here.

“He is so important for Chelsea and Chelsea fans, too. But tomorrow he is my rival, so we have to work hard against him.

“It’s a big game tomorrow against a big team. We have to prepare well because the game is so important for us, a semi-final, so we have to work hard and make sure we are ready.”

The kick-off time for the Chelsea vs Fluminense is 8 p.m., Nigerian time.
