Human rights activist and convener of #RevolutionNow Movement, Omoyele Sowore has confirmed an attack on himself and his crew members at the Lagos City Marathon.

Emerging reports earlier suggested that the former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, was brutally attacked by political thugs.

In a live Facebook video monitored by our correspondent, the thugs could be seen physically assaulting Sowore, his crew members and some persons believed to be journalists.


Confirming the attack, Sowore in a post on his official Facebook page said he is safe and unharmed.

According to him, the management of the facility accused them of unlawfully occupying the “VVIP space post-event”.

He wrote, “I am safe and unharmed in Lagos. Yes, some rogue elements launched an attack on us after completing the Lagos Marathon today, claiming that we unlawfully occupied the “VVIP” space post-event. They mobilized thugs to assault us”.
