The Peoples Democratic Party in the South-South has suspended its zonal secretary, Felix Omemu, for one month over alleged misconduct and unauthorised statements in the media.

But Omemu dismissed his suspension, arguing that the Zonal Executive Council meeting called by the party’s South-South Vice Chairman, Dan Orbih, in Benin City, Edo State, was illegal.

In a statement issued in Yenagoa on Saturday, Omemu stated that the meeting where his suspension was announced could only be held with the approval of the Zonal Working Committee.

He said there was no time the ZWC deliberated and agreed to convene a meeting.

Following the suspension, PDP zonal legal adviser, George Turnah, was immediately appointed to function as the acting zonal secretary.
