Former Nigerian international Alloy Agu says he’s confident the Super Eagles will subdue Rwanda and Zimbabwe in next month’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria will need maximum points from both games to get their faltering World Cup qualifying campaign back on track.

The Super Eagles are second from bottom in Group C with three points from four matches.

Rwanda tops the standings with seven points, while South Africa and Benin also have seven points but an inferior goal difference. Lesotho is fourth on five points, while Zimbabwe is at the basement on two points.


However, in a chat with Completesports.com, Agu advised the players to approach the games as if their life depends on it.

He urged the players to ensure that they pick the maximum points against Rwanda in Kigali.

“The two matches are crucial games that will determine the fate of the Super Eagles as far as the 2026 World Cup qualifiers are concerned.

“I expect the players to approach the games as if their lives depend on it because Nigeria must qualify for the World Cup. I am very optimistic that the Super Eagles will subdue Rwanda and Zimbabwe even though it won’t come easy.

“All our matches must be approached like a cup final at this point. No room for excuses again.”
