The International Committee of the Red Cross has notified the Israel Defense Forces, IDF, that hostage Hisham al-Sayed has been handed over by Hamas in Gaza City.

Isreali military authorities disclosed this on Saturday.

Al-Sayed is now being transported to IDF and Shin Bet forces inside Gaza, who will escort him out of the Strip, according to the military’s statement.
Unlike other recent hostage releases, Hamas transferred al-Sayed without a public ceremony.

Al-Sayed, an Israeli Bedouin with a history of mental health issues, crossed into Gaza in April 2015 and has been held by Hamas ever since.
