The Katsina State Police Command has successfully repelled an attempted attack by suspected armed bandits along the Dutsinma-Kurfi highway in Dutsinma Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday when bandits targeted officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on duty.

A distress call was received at approximately 12:57 a.m., prompting operatives from the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters to mobilize swiftly to the scene.Upon arrival, security forces engaged the assailants in a gun battle, forcing them to flee, with some sustaining gunshot wounds.

During a subsequent search of the area, security operatives discovered the body of one neutralized suspected bandit.

Meanwhile, efforts have been intensified to track down the fleeing attackers as investigations continue.

The Katsina State Police Command reassured residents of its commitment to maintaining security and urged the public to remain vigilant while cooperating with law enforcement agencies.

Katsina State has faced persistent security challenges, including banditry and kidnappings, particularly in rural communities.
