An Israeli security official has confirmed that the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has received the remains of four hostages killed while in Hamas captivity.

The official, citing information from the humanitarian organization, stated that the coffins are en route to Israeli forces at the Kerem Shalom crossing.

Israeli authorities are expected to conduct forensic identification near the border to verify the identities of the remains.

This process is a crucial step in fulfilling the terms of a proposed prisoner exchange, which would see Israel release over 600 Palestinian prisoners if Hamas meets its obligations.
