The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has concluded a four-day training programme aimed at enhancing the entrepreneurial and management skills of Veterinary Paraprofessionals (VPPs).

Held from February 17-20, 2025, at the College of Agriculture and Animal Science (CAAS), Division of Agricultural Colleges, Ahmadu Bello University, Kaduna, the training targeted private-sector VPPs and mentors within the region. The initiative seeks to bridge the business skills gap and promote sustainable animal health services in communities.

This programme builds on an earlier phase (2021-2023), which identified key challenges and barriers VPPs face in delivering services. Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Gani Enahoro, FAO Senior Animal Health Specialist, highlighted its significance in helping VPPs establish and sustain businesses focused on preventive healthcare services.
