President Donald Trump on Friday declared that the war between Russia and Ukraine could lead to a third world war if it persists.

Trump made the assertion during a meeting with the Ukrainian President at the White House.

President Trump, who had earlier expressed optimism that the war would soon come to an end, said his intervention was aimed at saving innocent lives.


President Trump said: “I hope I will be remembered as a peacemaker. I’m doing this to save lives more than anything else.

“Secondly, to save a lot of money, but I have considered that to be far less important.

“This could lead to a third world war. This was headed in the wrong direction.”
