appeared before a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday for allegedly stealing his employer’s industrial sewing machines.

The defendant, who lives in Goni-gora Kaduna, is standing trial for theft.

The prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that Samson Williams, of Federal Housing Goni-gora, reported the case at the Police station on Feb. 28.

He alleged that the defendant, in conspiracy with two others still at large, burgled his employer’s shop and stole two industrial sewing machines along with various customer fabrics, with the total value yet to be determined.

Leo told the court that the defendant was apprehended while attempting to escape, with some of the stolen fabrics in his possession.

He said the offence contravened the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.

The defendant , however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

Emmanuel stated that the sureties must have a reliable means of livelihood and reside within the court’s jurisdiction, with a traceable and verifiable work address.

He said that the sureties must also furnish the court with evidence of two years’ tax payment to Kaduna State Government.

The Magistrate adjourned the case until April 17, for hearing.
