The Niger State Police Command has arrested Alhaji Sabo Manigi, a 70-year-old suspect, for allegedly stabbing Inspector Musa Nasiru to death in Mashegu Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect allegedly killed the police officer on 3rd January 2025.

Before his death, the deceased was a prosecutor attached to the Magistrate’s Court, Mashegu.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PRO Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement, said the suspect was tracked and arrested on 25th February 2025, at about 3 pm in Bode-Saadu, Kwara State, following a thorough investigation.

He explained that the 70-year-old murdered the police prosecutor over a minor misunderstanding and escaped to an unknown location until his arrest.

The PRO disclosed that the suspect confessed to the crime and is currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, in Minna.

He will be charged in court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
