Some officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control have opened up on their battles against illicit drugs and dealers of harmful products in the country.

In separate interviews with Sunday PUNCH, the senior officers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, narrated how they escaped death by a whisker during raids on fake drug merchants.

NAFDAC DG’s outburst

In a recent outburst, the Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, had decried the threats to her life after recent raids of the agency.

Adeyeye, while renewing calls for the death penalty against those dealing in counterfeit drugs, described the dealers as merchants of death who put millions of lives at risk.

She revealed that the heightened enforcement by NAFDAC recently led to the seizure of 87 truckloads of substandard and expired medical products, including antiretroviral drugs, condoms, and other compromised medical supplies.
