Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman, Rukayya Ahmadu, for allegedly killing her co-wife in Dutse Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST on Friday.

He stated that the attack occurred on Monday at about 6:30 p.m. in Buju village, Dutse LGA.

According to him, the police received a report that Rukayya Ahmadu poured hot water on her co-wife, Asiyah Ahmadu, following a dispute between them.

As a result, the victim sustained severe burns.

Upon receiving the report, a team of police officers rushed to the scene and transported Asiyah to Dutse General Hospital for treatment.

SP Shiisu disclosed that the suspect was promptly arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further investigation.

During interrogation, Rukayya Ahmadu confessed to the crime.

“Unfortunately, on March 4, 2025, at about 9:00 a.m., doctors at the hospital confirmed Asiyah Ahmadu’s death while she was receiving treatment,” Shiisu said.

The police assured that a thorough investigation was ongoing, and the suspect would face prosecution accordingly.
