In today’s Nigerian newspapers’ review programme, Today in the News, Vanguard leads with the House of Representatives rejecting a 15 per cent increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) and adopting 7.5 per cent increase instead.

On the Rivers crisis, Vanguard reports that a group known as Egbesu, threatened to “shock” President Bola Tinubu if Governor Siminalayi Fubara is impeached by the House of Assembly.

Another headline has the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, saying former President Olusegun Obasanjo is free not to use the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway when completed following his criticism that the project was a waste of resources.

Moving on to other Nigerian newspapers, The Guardian focuses on education with its lead headline looking at the lack of ‘first-class’ solutions mocking high turnover of varsity ‘geniuses.’

The Punch leads with the Federal Government opposing Obasanjo that ex-president Muhammadu Buhari’s administration was the worst in corruption.

Finally, The Nation’s top headline says the Federal Government will be kicking off training for two million IT jobs in June.
