Niger State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has re-opened the two secondary schools closed down due to inter-school fight.

The schools are Government Day Secondary School Bosso Road Minna and Father O’Connell Science College Minna.

The schools were shutdown on Wednesday, 12th March 2025.


A statement issued to newsmen in Minna by the Commissioner, Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Hadiza Asabe Mohammed, said the ministry’s officials had an interactive session with Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago on the inter-school fight.

She explained that in consideration of the second term examination, the ministry resolved to reopen the schools on Monday,17th March, 2025.

“The school management, teachers and other staff members of the schools are also to resume on Monday 17th March 2025, while students are expected to resume on Tuesday, 18th March 2025 along with their parents and guardians for proper documentation as well as signing of undertaking,” Mohammed said.

The ministry in a related development invited parents and guardians for a stakeholders meeting on Thursday, 20th March 2025.
