Troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with the Air Component of the Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma, have successfully rescued 101 kidnapped victims in Katsina and Zamfara states.

The operations, conducted on March 17 and 18, 2025, also led to the elimination of 10 terrorists in the Faru District of Maradun Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, the mission began in Kankara, Katsina State, where troops launched a deliberate assault on a terrorist enclave at Pauwa High Ground.


This resulted in the neutralization of three terrorists and the rescue of 84 abducted persons, who were later handed over to local government authorities.

In Zamfara State, troops acted on intelligence regarding terrorist activities in the Bagabuzu area of Faru District, Maradun LGA.

During the operation, seven terrorists were neutralized, and a motorcycle along with other items was recovered. Additionally, 17 captives kidnapped by a notorious terrorist leader were freed from Tsibiri and Doka villages in Shinkafi LGA.

The rescued individuals are currently receiving medical attention at a local hospital.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi reaffirmed that Operation Fansan Yamma remains dedicated to safeguarding communities in Katsina and Zamfara States.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and support security efforts, emphasizing the crucial role of community cooperation in combatting terrorism in the region.
