The Kano State Police Command has arrested five suspected kidnappers, including two ladies, in Gabasswa Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement on Friday.

He said the suspects were arrested following a report of a kidnapping incident from a resident of Zakirai town in the Gabasswa Local Government Area of the state on March 8, 2025.

“Following a report of a kidnapping incident received from a resident of Zakirai Town in Gabasawa LGA, Kano 08/03/2025, that his son, Muhammad Bello, 21, was kidnapped and a ransom of fifteen million naira, was demanded for his release.

“On receipt of the report, a team from the Anti-kidnapping Squad led by CSP Bala Shuaibu was detailed to rescue the victim and arrest the culprit(s). Through a technical-based operation and intelligence-driven investigation, the following five suspects were arrested in connection with the case between 11/03/2025 to 18/03/2025,” he said.

He listed the suspects as Tukur Lawal A.K.A Maikudi, 20, Ado Usman Alias Ruwa, 30, Sunusi Surajo, 27, Ummulkhairi Ibrahim, 19 and Habiba Shuaibu, 18.
