The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, on Friday, said he had no favourite candidate Aaspiring to secure the LP’s ticket to contest the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State.

Abure promised that the party would create a level playing field for every aspirant to compete for the party’s ticket.

He stated this on Friday when the former Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority, Dr George Moghal, submitted his completed expression of interest and nomination forms to the party secretariat in Abuja.

“I want you to take it to the bank that it is the people of Anambra and more precisely, LP members that will determine who flies the party ticket. I want to say without any equivocation that there will not be godfatherism and we have no anointed aspirant, and the process will not be skewed towards an aspirant. I assure you again that the process will be free, fair and credible.

When we find men of goodwill, we open our arms to receive them. Little wonder we open all our arms to receive you when you come to join the LP,” he stated.

Earlier in his address, Moghalu thanked the party’s leadership for giving him the opportunity, promising not to disappoint the party.

He said, “I am going into this race, the governorship of our State, with the determination to win the election, and we shall win by the grace of God. I acknowledge with all sincerity that power belongs to God and He gives it to whom He pleases.”
