Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has mandated asset declaration for all political appointees in his administration.

Yusuf decried the non-declaration of asset by the appointees, noting that such had a legal consequence.

The governor, in a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, directed the appointees to declare their assets with the National Code of Conduct Bureau to avoid any potential legal consequences.


They appealed to me to direct you to do so to avoid the consequences of non-declaration of assets, which is enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.”

The governor also expressed dissatisfaction with some Special Advisers who, despite their primary role of providing advice, had not submitted any counsel, either verbally or in writing.

He noted: “It is far better for an adviser to send me dozens of memos than to remain silent for over a year without offering any advice on governance matters.”

The governor charged them to shun such attitude by actively monitoring government affairs that affect their respective offices and submitting reports, whether positive or negative.
