The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria has commended the Federal Government for its continued partnership with key stakeholders in securing the country’s oil assets, describing the collaboration as instrumental in reducing crude oil theft and boosting national revenue.

In a statement released on Sunday, HURIWA applauded the government’s support for Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited led by Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Dennis Otuaro.

“The synergy between the government, Tantita, and PAP has significantly strengthened security around oil facilities in the Niger Delta,” the statement read.

HURIWA highlighted the FG’s strategic decision to engage Tantita Security Services in 2022 as a major turning point in the fight against crude oil theft.

It stated that since then, Tantita has uncovered nearly 4,000 cases of oil-related crimes, including 702 illegal connection points, 971 theft cases, and 1,784 illegal refineries.

The association credited these achievements to the effective collaboration between Tantita and government agencies such as the Nigerian Army, Navy, Police, Civil Defence, and the Department of State Services.

It emphasised that this partnership has not only curbed economic sabotage but has also restored investor confidence in the oil sector.

The group further acknowledged the Federal Government’s support for the Presidential Amnesty Programme under Dr. Dennis Otuaro, noting that the PAP has evolved from a stipend-based scheme into a robust empowerment initiative.
