The Lagos State branch of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors has harped on the need to determine the population of Lagos State in order to effectively plan the city.

The body made this known at a Friday press parley organised in commemoration of World Surveyors Day 2025, with the theme: “Shaping the Future on the Wisdom of Surveying,” held at the NIS Building, Alausa, Ikeja.

The surveyors, through the state chairman, Olukolade Kasim, said, “We envision a well-planned and efficient Lagos with adequate housing, infrastructure, and universal access to employment and basic services such as water, energy, and sanitation.”

He added, “We look forward to the conduct of a census to determine the actual number of people living in the state.”

The chairman was represented by his vice, Moses Olukayode.
