International lawyers have “laid the foundations” for a special tribunal to try Russia for the crime of aggression, according to a lawyer, Jennifer Rankin, as quoted by the Guardian UK.


The European Union, EU, executive, yesterday, declared a breakthrough that it said would mean the Russian political and military leaders “who bear the greatest responsibility” would be held to account.

EU’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, said that “There is no doubt that Putin has committed the crime of aggression, which is deciding to attack another country.”


Meanwhile, Russia has insisted that the new sanctions from the west are not the cause of its inflation.

The country blmed the high inflation rate on a weaker rouble and a lower harvest.

Russia has been hit by high inflation rate since December 2024 and January 2025.


The Russian central bank reported on Tuesday that it has nothing to do with western sanctions.

Inflation, which reached 9.5% in 2024, has emerged as the biggest economic challenge for Russian authorities as the country approaches the fourth year of what it calls “a special military operation” in Ukraine.
