The African Democratic Congress has dissolved its Kano State executive committee. They have now set up a caretaker committee to manage the party’s activities in the state.

Najaatu Mohammed, the Deputy National Chairman (North-West) of the ADC, shared this news at a press conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre in Kano on Monday.

She said this decision follows the party's constitution, the Electoral Act, and their shared duty to protect the party's future in Kano.

“This action is not out of preference but out of constitutional duty. Every decision made follows our party's constitution, the Electoral Act, and our shared responsibility to safeguard the future of the ADC in Kano State.

“Our constitution is there for moments like this. It shows a lawful way to restore stability, maintain continuity, and ensure that the party's activities go on without interruption,” she stated.

Mohammed emphasized that the national leadership of the party has fulfilled a key responsibility by maintaining the unity, continuity, and constitutional integrity of the ADC in Kano State.

“When a political organization faces a leadership gap, responsible leaders cannot just sit back and let uncertainty take over. A political party needs order, discipline, and continuity. Without these, confusion will take over and replace confidence,” she explained.

She urged party members not to see the creation of the caretaker committee as a sign of doubt about their commitment, loyalty, or contributions.

“The establishment of a caretaker committee should never be seen as a judgment on the dedication, loyalty, or contributions of the many faithful members of our party in Kano State.

“Not at all. Our members are the greatest strength of this party.”

The deputy national chairman pointed out that many members have given their time, resources, and reputation to build the ADC from the ground up. She noted that they have stayed committed even when it was politically tough to do so.

She then called on party stakeholders and members to support the new transitional arrangement positively.

“If we remain true to our constitution and our democratic beliefs, the future of the African Democratic Congress in Kano State will be stronger than ever,” she added.

The new caretaker committee will be led by Alhaji Umar Bala as chairman, while Isma’il Musa will act as secretary.
