The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, presented the party’s flag to its governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dare Bejide, on Thursday. This event took place as the party wrapped up its campaign before the Saturday election.

At the grand finale rally in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, Mr Mark, a former senate president, called on the people of Ekiti to come out and vote for Bejide. He expressed confidence that the ADC would win the election.

He thanked party members for their strong support throughout the campaign. He said the election was a chance for Ekiti residents to choose a new political direction.

“I appreciate the support you have given our candidate so far, but Saturday is the day that matters most. Come out in your numbers and vote for the ADC. We are confident that we will return here to celebrate victory,” he said.

Mr Mark then handed the party’s flag to Mr Bejide. He said the flag is a sign of the mandate he hopes Bejide will take to the Government House after the election.

Mr Bejide thanked the party’s leadership for their support. He mentioned that the ADC in Ekiti has built a strong political structure that can win the governorship election.

He said, “I want to tell our leaders that we have the best ADC coalition in any state in Nigeria. Since I emerged as the party’s candidate, I have worked to ensure that the party has structures across all wards in Ekiti.”

Mr Bejide also noted that the party has united politicians from various backgrounds. He believes this unity has improved their chances in the upcoming election.

Earlier, Naomi Abel, the party’s National Women Leader, praised the women in Ekiti for their support for the ADC. She urged them to turn their support into votes on election day.

She asked Mr Bejide not to forget women if he becomes governor. She emphasized that women have played a key role in his campaign.

“We have stood by you throughout this campaign. When you become governor, remember the women who supported your aspiration,” she said.

The rally was the ADC’s last major campaign event before the polls open on Saturday.
