The All Progressives Congress has stepped up its efforts for the 2027 general elections. They are asking Nigerians in the United Kingdom to support President Bola Tinubu’s second-term campaign and boost support for the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

This call came during an APC Diaspora Mobilisation programme in Uxbridge, London, on Wednesday. Party members, support groups, and the Nigerian community in the UK gathered to discuss ways to increase grassroots support for the ruling party.

The event was organized by the Office of the Special Adviser on Diaspora Coordination and Mobilisation to the APC National Chairman. They worked with Women Leaders Support Advancement and the Tinubu Support Group.

The gathering included party leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, academics, and women leaders from the Nigerian diaspora. This shows the APC’s increasing efforts to boost its support base outside Nigeria ahead of the upcoming elections.

During the event, the Special Adviser on Diaspora Coordination and Mobilisation, Professor Tai Balofin, encouraged Nigerians living abroad to be active supporters of the Tinubu administration and promote the President’s re-election.

“The Nigerian diaspora remains a strategic partner in national development. I urge all Nigerians living abroad to deepen grassroots engagement and actively support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu so that the Renewed Hope Agenda can continue to deliver meaningful reforms for our country,” Balofin said in a statement.

He emphasized that ongoing engagement from Nigerians abroad would strengthen the party and support the administration’s achievements.

A key moment of the programme was when Otunba Jafaar Ibraimoh, the UK Coordinator of the Tinubu Support Group, presented an Award of Honour to Balofin. This was in recognition of his work in diaspora engagement and party mobilization.

In response to receiving the award, Balofin dedicated it to the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda. “This recognition belongs to our National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, whose leadership has continued to promote inclusiveness and strengthen the participation of Nigerians in the diaspora in the affairs of our great party,” he said.

Women leaders also expressed their dedication to the APC and President Tinubu’s administration. Kemi Kalejaiye, the UK Coordinator of Women Leaders Support Advancement, stated that Nigerian women in the diaspora are ready to play a bigger role in mobilizing support for the APC and aiding national development.

“Women in the diaspora are prepared to mobilise, organise and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s development. We remain committed to supporting the APC and ensuring that the Renewed Hope Agenda succeeds for the benefit of all Nigerians,” Kalejaiye said.

Deborah Honecker, the founder of Women Leaders Support Advancement, said women are a strong force for change when united.

“When women come together with a shared purpose, they become a powerful force for transformation. We will continue to build bridges across borders and encourage greater participation of women in political mobilisation and nation-building,” Honecker said.
