The Nigerian Army has announced that its troops rescued eight kidnap victims in different operations in Zamfara. They also arrested 39 suspected drug dealers in Plateau and dealt with various security issues across the country.

This information came from an operational report shared with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja.

According to the report, troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kaura Namoda in Zamfara rescued two victims after confronting terrorists who were attacking commuters on the Sabon Gari-Gusau road. The soldiers forced the attackers to flee into nearby bushes.

While searching the area, the troops found two civilians with gunshot wounds. They took them to Kaura Namoda General Hospital for medical care.

"In another operation, troops and local vigilantes chased terrorists who kidnapped residents from Kure village in Zamfara. They engaged the attackers and rescued six victims, forcing the criminals to run away.

The rescued victims were named as Usman, Baba Usman, Hassan, Sunusi, Abdullahi Yahaya, and Sule. After this, the troops patrolled nearby communities, encouraging residents to share information quickly."

The report also mentioned that troops responded to terrorists blocking the Gummi-Anka road and engaged the attackers.

Additionally, the report said that troops acted quickly after a terrorist attack in Danpadama village, located in the Talata Mafara Local Government Area (LGA). They worked to secure the community and restore residents' confidence following the attack.

In Plateau State, troops carried out raids on criminal hideouts in Bassa LGA. They arrested 39 suspected drug dealers and users, seizing illegal substances for further investigation.

"Meanwhile, troops and other security agencies helped restore peace after suspected cult violence in Ugboren community, Delta. One person lost their life, and angry youths destroyed shops and buildings in the area.

Troops also broke up protests where people blocked the Gusau-Sokoto highway in Zamfara due to ongoing insecurity. They reopened the road for commuters after bringing back normalcy to the region."
