The Executive Secretary and CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Ayodele Ogunsan, is deeply saddened by the death of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Lagos State Command, Khan Salihu. He described Salihu as an officer known for his professionalism, humility, and selfless service.

In a statement shared with PUNCH Metro on Wednesday, Ogunsan said the death of the senior police officer is a painful loss for the security community in Lagos State. He highlighted Salihu's key role in the command's administration.

Ogunsan extended his sympathy to the deceased's family, the Inspector-General of Police, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, and all officers and men of the command.

"We have lost an angel. DCP Khan Salihu was one of the finest officers I had the privilege of knowing. He was cultured, extremely nice, humble, and always willing to lend a hand," Ogunsan said.

He pointed out that the late deputy commissioner earned respect within the Lagos State Police Command because of his dedication to duty and loyalty to the ideals of policing. Salihu built strong professional relationships with his colleagues and stakeholders.

Ogunsan further described the deceased as a bridge-builder. He noted that Khan's calm nature and accessibility made him admired across the security community in Lagos.

"His professionalism was exemplary, but beyond that, he was a genuinely good man and lover of God. His passing leaves a void that will be difficult to fill," he added.

Ogunsan emphasized that the security community in Lagos will remember the late officer for his service, integrity, and kindness. He said Khan's contributions would always be a reference point in the command.

He urged the bereaved family, colleagues, and friends to find comfort in the legacy left by the deceased. He also prayed for the peaceful repose of Khan Salihu's soul.

In a related development, the Lagos State Police Command has denied reports linking Khan’s death to a kidnapping incident.

The command, through its spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, clarified on Tuesday that the senior officer passed away after a brief illness.

"For the avoidance of doubt, DCP Khan Salihu was never kidnapped at any time before his demise. The report is entirely false, misleading, and a complete fabrication with no basis in fact whatsoever," Adebisi stated.

She explained that before his passing, DCP Khan Salihu briefly complained of feeling unwell and was taken to the hospital for urgent medical care. Sadly, doctors confirmed him dead upon arrival.

"At no time was he abducted, kidnapped, or involved in any incident remotely connected to criminal activity as falsely portrayed in the publication," Adebisi added.

She also warned journalists against spreading unverified news and called for a retraction of the story linking Khan’s death to an abduction.
