The Oyo State Government has removed the curfew it placed on 10 local government areas. This decision is part of the effort to help rescue the pupils and teachers kidnapped in Oriire Local Government Area.
The announcement came in a statement on Saturday from the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade. He explained that the decision was made after looking at the security situation in the affected areas.
“The Oyo State Government has lifted the curfew imposed on 10 local government areas following the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire. Residents can now resume their normal activities,” the statement said.
Oyelade also assured residents that the state government would keep monitoring the situation. They will work with security agencies to ensure peace and safety in the area.
He noted that efforts are still ongoing to deal with the kidnapping incident and to stop it from happening again.
The government first imposed a 16-hour curfew on June 24 across the affected local government areas. They later extended this restriction for an additional day on Thursday.
Although the government did not share more details about the current security operations, it urged residents to stay alert. They should also continue to work with law enforcement by giving important information that can help keep the community safe.
