The Oyo State Government has added 24 hours to the curfew in the 10 local government areas near the Old Oyo National Park. This means the curfew now lasts longer than the original 48 hours.
Musibau Babatunde, the Secretary to the State Government, shared this news in a memo on Thursday evening in Ibadan, the state capital.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reminds us that the state government first announced the 48-hour curfew on Tuesday. The curfew runs from 4.00 p.m. to 8.00 a.m. in the 10 local government areas.
Now, this curfew will remain in place until Saturday. The local government areas affected are Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo, and Atiba.
This curfew is part of the state’s efforts to deal with kidnapping and other security issues in communities close to the Old Oyo National Park.
