Peoples Democratic Party leader in Ekiti State and head of the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda, Dr Oluwole Oluyede, believes that getting 90 percent of the votes from registered voters in the state for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections is possible.
Oluyede, who was the PDP governorship candidate in the June 20 Ekiti State Governorship Election, said this goal can be achieved through strong grassroots efforts for the President’s re-election in the state.
In a statement shared in Ado Ekiti on Monday, Oluyede mentioned that he returned from a two-week holiday and has activated his OPARHA to pursue the target he set for the 2027 presidential election.
He called on members and supporters of the PDP, All Progressives Congress, and other political groups who share his vision of a better Ekiti and stronger Nigeria to join the campaign for Tinubu’s re-election. He said the 2027 election should be seen as a chance to build on development.
“I believe President Bola Tinubu deserves a second term. Nigeria cannot keep starting over every four years. If we have started a reform process, we must allow that process to grow and strengthen,” he added.
He showed willingness to work with Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and other key individuals to reach the 90 percent goal he set.
To achieve this at the polls, Oluyede said, “We are going to the people. We will mobilise. OPARHA will take the message to every door, every household, every ward, and every community. We will explain why President Tinubu deserves another term and let our people make an informed choice.
“I want to assure Mr President that we are ready to collaborate with Governor Oyebanji and every stakeholder who believes in the progress of Ekiti and Nigeria. Our target is 90 percent of the voters registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ekiti State.
“It is a big target, but it is doable. We will work for it. The target is not just about winning an election; it is about building connections among different groups in Ekiti and improving the relationship between the state and federal governments.”
Oluyede said he would use the structure of OPARHA to launch a grassroots campaign across all 16 local government areas and 177 wards of the state.
The OPARHA leader, who dismissed claims that he has left politics, said his choice to go on holiday after the June 20, 2026 governorship election did not mean he was done with politics or stepping back from political activities.
He explained that the two-week break he took after a busy election season allowed him to rest and think about political changes in Ekiti and the country.
He said the consultations were aimed at uniting people from the PDP and APC, as beyond party lines, there is a need to consider what is best for Nigeria and especially for Ekiti State.
During the post-election period, he said, “I accepted the fatherly invitation of Mr President, Bola Tinubu. We had a very meaningful discussion, and we both agreed that we must work together towards 2027.
“For me, that was not about abandoning my political identity. It was about prioritising Nigeria and our people’s interests.
“I also met with our governor, Biodun Oyebanji. We had an open and constructive conversation, and we agreed that no matter our political differences, we must work together for the development and future of Ekiti State,” he said.
Oluyede added that his meeting with Governor Oyebanji was part of efforts to promote a broader political understanding across party lines.
