Operatives from the Special Weapons and Tactics Unit of the Ogun State Police Command have caught 43 suspects during a raid on a well-known criminal hideout. This took place around Isheri Olofin along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, right across from the Kara Cattle Market.
The operation happened around 11:00 PM on July 7, 2026. This was after reliable information showed that the area had become a base for criminals involved in cult activities, drug abuse, prostitution, and other crimes.
During the raid, police seized hard drugs, 10 mobile phones, and various other items that could be linked to crime.
DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the spokesperson for the state police, shared this news in a statement to journalists on Sunday.
Acting quickly on the information received, the SWAT Commander, CSP Murphy, sent operatives to carry out the raid.
Babaseyi reported that “the operation led to the arrest of forty-three (43) suspects, which included 28 males and 15 females.
“A detailed search of the area uncovered substances believed to be Indian hemp, ‘Loud,’ and other hard drugs; 10 mobile phones; four power banks; one rechargeable fan; and one cross-body bag that had two ATM cards and one National Identity Card, along with other items thought to be connected to criminal activities.”
After thorough investigation, all 43 suspects were taken to court and sent to the right correctional facility.
The suspects face charges for crimes like criminal conspiracy, being part of an unlawful society, unlawful assembly, actions likely to disturb public peace, disorderly conduct, illegal possession and use of suspected cannabis, and running an unlicensed brothel, among other charges.
Some of the suspects are said to be helping the police with important information about other criminal cases being looked into by the command.
Babaseyi mentioned, “Follow-up operations are ongoing to catch other suspects and uncover more criminal networks related to these cases.”
He added that with the prosecution of the 43 suspects from this latest raid, the total number of suspects charged in Operation KOSAYE has reached 76. This includes 33 suspects from the first phase of the operation and the latest 43.
Babaseyi stated that the arraignment shows the Command’s determination to not only make arrests but also ensure thorough investigations and successful prosecution of criminals.
Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, praised the professionalism and effectiveness of the SWAT operatives. He called the operation another major step in the ongoing execution of Operation KOSAYE.
Ojajuni assured that the state will remain a tough place for criminals. He warned that criminal hideouts, drug spots, brothels used for illegal activities, cult areas, and other dangerous places will continue to be found, raided, and shut down.
He asked residents to stay alert and to keep supporting the police with timely and credible information. He reassured them that the command will continue its intelligence-led policing, strong tactical operations, and community partnerships to protect lives and keep public peace.
