The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly abusing his eight-month-old stepdaughter in Toro Local Government Area.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, shared this news in a statement on Thursday for the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu.
The statement said a report came in on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, around 5:34 PM. The report claimed that Balarabe Adamu, who lives in Lame, Toro LGA, “sexually abused his 8-month-old stepdaughter, who was brought to his house by his wife.”
After the incident, the girl was taken to the General Hospital in Toro for medical check-up and treatment.
“After we got the report, our officers at Gumau Division quickly acted and arrested the suspect. He is now in custody and under investigation,” the statement mentioned.
CP Aliyu condemned the alleged act and promised that the case would be thoroughly investigated.
He also said that the suspect would be taken to court once the investigation is complete, as required by law.
The command emphasized its zero-tolerance for all types of sexual violence and child abuse.
It called on parents, guardians, and community leaders to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior to the nearest police station for quick action.
The command said they would give further updates on the case to the public soon.
