A leader of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State and a senatorial hopeful for Kwara South, Sola Ajimati, has urged party leaders to include youth representatives in the newly formed Kwara APC Reconciliation Committee.

Ajimati, who is also the President of the Youth Arise for Leadership Initiative and the Convener of the It’s Youth O’Clock Movement, made this call in a statement on Thursday.

He praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the Kwara APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, for creating the committee. He said this step is important for party unity and helps reposition the APC for upcoming elections.

The committee is led by retired Col. Abdulwahab Ademola Lawal and includes members like Dr Oluwatoyin Opawoye, Musa Yeketi, and ACG Ahmed Abbas. Ajimati believes this shows the party’s dedication to reconciliation after the recent primary elections.

But Ajimati said the committee would be better if it had credible youth representatives.

"While the committee represents experience, wisdom, and gender inclusion, it currently lacks the input of respected youth leaders or young professionals," he said.

He pointed out that young people make up over 65 percent of Kwara’s active voters and are key for grassroots mobilization, elections, and online engagement.

"Youth inclusion is no longer optional; it is a political necessity," he stated.

Ajimati asked the governor and party leaders to appoint one or two youth representatives who have integrity and are accepted across the state.

"Such a decision will inspire confidence, expand participation, and show that every generation has a role in building the future of our party," he added.

He also encouraged the reconciliation committee to involve a wide range of voices, including governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly aspirants, as well as elders, women leaders, youth groups, professionals, and grassroots executives.

According to him, true reconciliation can only happen when everyone can share their views.

He urged aspirants and their supporters to promote peace and unity during the reconciliation process.

"A transparent, inclusive, and credible reconciliation effort will strengthen our resolve and prepare the APC for bigger successes in 2027," he said.

Ajimati insisted that including young people in the reconciliation process would boost party unity and improve the APC’s chances in elections.

"The future of Kwara APC will be stronger when every generation is represented," he concluded.
