Adeleke Meets Wike After Chat with Tinubu

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State visited Nyesom Wike after meeting President Tinubu. The discussions focused on the recent governorship election results.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, visited the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday. This visit is part of his consultations in Abuja after his recent re-election.

A photo of the meeting was shared on X by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka. The picture shows Adeleke shaking hands with Wike while both hold the governor’s certificate of return.

Olayinka wrote, “Governor Ademola Adeleke visits the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.”

The visit happened just hours after Adeleke met with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

Adeleke arrived at the Villa around 5:20 to 5:25 p.m. He wore traditional attire and was accompanied by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and several officials from Osun State, including his campaign director-general and chief of staff.

During the meeting, Adeleke showed his certificate of return and thanked Tinubu for the conduct of the August 15 governorship election. He ran for office with the Accord Party and was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission after receiving 511,067 votes.

Adeleke defeated Bola Oyebamiji, the candidate from the All Progressives Congress, who got 444,815 votes. The governor won in 19 out of the 30 local government areas in Osun State.

After the meeting with the President, Adeleke spoke briefly with reporters from the State House. He said Tinubu should be praised for allowing the electoral process to happen without interference.

Adeleke said his visit was mainly to thank Tinubu, whom he called the “father of the nation,” for supporting democracy. He emphasized, “Yeah, that is why I’m here to thank Mr. President, the father of the nation, because he fought for this democracy.

“That is why he allowed free and fair election, and that is the result. That is why I’m here, to say thank you to ensure that democracy lives in Nigeria,” the governor said.
