Four People Arrested for Stealing Railway Materials in Katsina

The Katsina State Police have arrested four people for stealing railway materials and other related crimes. This happened after police found 70 railway sleepers hidden in a vehicle.

The suspects were caught at around 12:30 a.m. on October 11, 2026. Police stopped a white J5 vehicle on the Kurfi, Tsanni Village Road during a routine check.

The Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, shared the news in a statement on Sunday in Katsina. He said, "The vehicle, with registration number BAU 821 ZY, was driven by a 25-year-old man, Anas Abdullahi, along with three others named Nasir Nuhu, Salisu Yusuf, and Nuru Bala."

Sadiq noted that the railway sleepers were hidden behind 17 bags of animal feed in the vehicle. He said, "Upon proper search, the vehicle was found conveying 70 pieces of railway sleepers, which were concealed behind 17 bags of animal feed."

Initial investigations showed that one of the suspects, Nasir Nuhu, admitted to getting the items from a man named Anas Moh’d. This man is from Bauchi State and is currently missing.

The police are working hard to find the missing suspects and to trace the source of the vandalized railway tracks. Sadiq emphasized that "the Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, CP Ali Umar Fage, reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure and combating vandalism."

He also encouraged the public to share useful information to help the police act quickly against suspects.
