The management of Prince Abubakar Audu University in Anyigba, Kogi, has announced new security rules on campus. This follows an "unfortunate security breach" that happened on June 11.

On June 11, a 300-level biochemistry student lost his life due to an attack by suspected cultists. The News Agency of Nigeria reported this incident.

Two suspects were arrested on the same day by the school’s internal security team. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Salisu Usman, confirmed this in a statement.

In a notice on Sunday, the Registrar, Siyaka Audu, shared the decisions made during the University Management Committee’s 401st Regular Meeting. The management ordered immediate enforcement of new restrictions to protect staff, students, and other stakeholders.

Under the new rules, no student can bring personal cars or motorcycles onto the campus. This includes Haojue, TVS, and other types of "rubber-rubber" bikes. This ban will stay in place until further notice.

The management also said that tinted vehicles and cars with hidden number plates are not allowed on campus. The main gate will be the only entrance and exit for vehicles, while other gates will only be open for pedestrians.

Students must show their identity cards while on campus. The Chief Security Officer will register commercial motorcycle riders along with union leaders. They will also enforce a speed limit of 35 km/h.

Additionally, vehicle owners will need to get Vehicle Identification Tallies from the Chief Security Officer. There will be a fine of N5,000 for anyone who loses their tally.

The management has also stated that the ban on all unauthorized student gatherings is still in effect. The Chief Security Officer, along with the Director of Physical Planning and the Director of Works and Maintenance, will block all illegal paths into the campus.

To help with movement, solar-powered tricycles will be added to the campus shuttle services. The management is urging everyone to comply and work with the 11-man committee looking into the security breach.
