Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate production jumped to an average of 1,735,398 barrels per day in June 2026. This marks the fourth month in a row of positive growth.
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) shared the crude statistics on Sunday. In June, crude oil production reached 1.56 million barrels per day (mbpd).
The report also indicated that 0.18 mbpd of condensates were produced. This means Nigeria achieved 104 percent of the 1.5 mbpd crude oil production target set by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
In terms of crude oil alone, the 1.56 million barrels a day in June is the highest for Nigeria since April 2020. It also represents a 74-month high.
"In June, the peak combined crude oil and condensate production was 1.89 mbpd, showing Nigeria’s potential to hit 2 mbpd soon.
But the lowest production during this period was 1.57 mbpd.
The statistics show that Nigeria has been on the rise, moving from 1.483 mbpd in February to 1.546 mbpd in March, 1.663 mbpd in April, 1.700 mbpd in May, and 1.735 mbpd in June.
This is a 2.2 percent growth month on month."
The report stated that this improved performance is mainly due to stable production operations in most of the oil fields and no major pipeline issues during this period.
It added that the steady operations helped boost production uptime and crude evacuation efficiency.
Some assets faced short operational shutdowns, but their overall effect on national production was small.
"Additionally, scheduled maintenance was well managed and completed without major disruptions to production operations.
The growth seen in June shows the dedication of operators and industry players to enhancing operational efficiency, maintaining asset integrity, and boosting production reliability in Nigeria's upstream oil sector."
The report also breaks down daily average crude oil and condensate production by terminals for June. Bonny Terminal produced 318.28 kbpd, up from 293.88 kbpd in May 2026.
Forcados Terminal followed with 306.36 kbpd, an increase from 289.90 kbpd in May 2026.
On the other hand, Qua Iboe Terminal recorded an average of 164.73 kbpd of crude oil and condensates, down from 173.36 kbpd in May 2026.
Escravos Oil Terminal had a daily average of 138.03 kbpd, rising from 135.47 kbpd recorded in May 2026.
The report noted that Bonga was the fifth-highest producing terminal, with an average of 103.66 kbpd of crude oil compared to 102.54 kbpd in May 2026.
